BEAUTIFICATION Dawn McGrew | Suze Nock The flower beds are now just about fully planted, and apart from planting some further bulbs later in the fall, our task now is to maintain the grounds. If anyone is interested in gardening and has time to help in keeping things tidy, we would like to hear from you!
CREATIVE ARTS & SCIENCES Yana Wember | Maura Sullivan The Creative Arts and Sciences Committee is looking forward to bringing another exciting slate of programs to the students of Wellesley Middle School in the upcoming academic year. In 2013-2014, the students enjoyed many special presentations which supported the following curriculum areas:
Language Arts: Jack Gantos, Yoko Watkins, and The Shakespeare Guyz
Social Studies: Holocaust speaker, Christianity speaker Matthew Bolton, Chariots of the Sun Mythology, Tara Ahmed Hindu Dance, and two programs from Theater Espresso: Uprising on King Street and Nine Who Dared
Science: Museum of Science Electromagnetism and Cryogenics programs, and Ecology field trip
Performing Arts: Soundpainting program

GRANT WRITING Linda Erin Keenan| Shelley McHale Assist WMS staff in grant applications process. GREEN TEAM/COMMUNITY SERVICE Jeanne Hoerter Brainstorm new ideas and assist with recycling and other ‘green’ efforts throughout WMS. Work with Central Council Green initiatives coordinator. PARENTS OF PERFORMING ARTS STUDENTS (POPS) Laurie Kelley POPS actively supports all of our performing students in drama, chorus, band, orchestra and dance. The purpose of POPS is to foster, encourage and support the many aspects of performing arts education in the Wellesley Public schools; to enrich the scope of student involvement and to stimulate broad community interest in program. Membership is open to all parents and/or guardians of children who are enrolled in the Wellesley Public Schools. Wellesley POPS, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization. Donate online to POPS.

GRADE 8 COMMITTEE CO-CHAIRS Susan Frigoletto GRADE 8 COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY OPEN Help with 8th grade community service projects on a day in May TBA.
GRADE 8 DANCE (JUNE) OPEN Help organize the Friday evening activity in June TBA. GRADE 8 DEPARTURE DAY (JUNE) OPEN Help plan (8th grade parents preferred for planning) and execute on the day of (6th and 7th grade parents preferred for day of helping) the 8th grade departure festivities on the last morning of school in June.

BOSTON-WELLESLEY COLLABORATIVE Tanya Morel-Giglio This committee strives to continue and support the relationships formed between parents and students in the elementary school Family Friends program and to be a resource in our community, ensuring that the Boston families have a strong local connection in Wellesley. Our goals are to facilitate communication between Boston and Wellesley parents, encourage ongoing friendships between students, and support WMS Boston - Wellesley events.

NURSE'S OFFICE VOLUNTEERS Jennifer Yuan Recruit volunteers to assist the WMS Nurses’ Office with Grade 7 Hearing and Vision Screening (November/Early December) Wellesley PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (PAC) Mariela Vargas Serve as the liaison between the WMS community and the Wellesley Parent Advisory Council (PAC), a district-wide organization of parents in Wellesley, working to enhance the education of students who learn differently.
