CREATIVE ARTS & SCIENCES Adrianna Bertucci | Ciara Belliveau The Creative Arts and Sciences Committee is proud to provide an exciting slate of enrichment programs to Wellesley Middle School students this academic year. In 2017/2018, our students enjoyed enrichments that complimented their program of study in: General Ed:
Motivational Speaker Ed Gerety discussed the power of respect and responsibility, and the impact and consequences of choices and decisions.
Boston Museum of Science's Traveling Program, the ‘Heat Show’ and ‘Motion, Forces, and Energy Show’ enabled students to explore science through live demonstrations, and hands-on trial and error.
Award Winning Authors Jack Gantos and Chris Crowedelivered intriguing presentations about the research, writing, and editing process of their books.
The Shakespeare Guyz by Young Audiences performedvarious Shakespeare plays.
Theatrical Performances by ‘Chariots of the Sun’ a Greek Mythology show and ‘Uprising on King Street: The Boston Massacre by Theater Expresso’ an interactive theatrical performance.
Dance & Drum Workshop with Master Drummer and Dancer Joh Camara gave students an opportunity to experience and learn the drumming traditions, dances and culture of West Africa.
Holocaust Speaker Eva Paddock discussed her captivating survival story.
Monkey Dance Documentary,a 2004 documentary film by Julie Mallozzi.

BEAUTIFICATION Dawn McGrew | Suze Nock The flower beds are now just about fully planted, and apart from planting some further bulbs later in the fall, our task now is to maintain the grounds. If anyone is interested in gardening and has time to help in keeping things tidy, we would like to hear from you! GRANT WRITING Shelley McHale Assist WMS staff in grant applications process. GREEN TEAM/COMMUNITY SERVICE Michelle Foster Brainstorm new ideas and assist with recycling and other ‘green’ efforts throughout WMS. Work with Central Council Green initiatives coordinator.

GRADE 8 DEPARTURE DAY (JUNE) MaryAnne Ulian Help plan (8th grade parents preferred for planning) and execute on the day of (6th and 7th grade parents preferred for day of helping) the 8th grade departure festivities on the last morning of school in June.

BOSTON-WELLESLEY COLLABORATIVE Latasha Martin | Kate Roosevelt | Rhonda Mar This committee strives to continue and support the relationships formed between parents and students in the elementary school Family Friends program and to be a resource in our community, ensuring that the Boston families have a strong local connection in Wellesley. Our goals are to facilitate communication between Boston and Wellesley parents, encourage ongoing friendships between students, and support WMS Boston - Wellesley events.

NURSE'S OFFICE VOLUNTEERS Jennifer Yuan Recruit volunteers to assist the WMS Nurses’ Office with Grade 7 Hearing and Vision Screening (November/Early December) Wellesley PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL (PAC) Tarah Hirshey Serve as the liaison between the WMS community and the Wellesley Parent Advisory Council (PAC), a district-wide organization of parents in Wellesley, working to enhance the education of students who learn differently.
